SUMMARY:Norwescap Computer Class Series: Office 365 PowerPoint
DESCRIPTION:Norwescap CLTC’s Computer Class Series is designed to help class participants build a strong foundation using computers. This month’s free series will be conducted in person at the Washington Public Library\, at 20 Carlton Ave\, Washington\, NJ 07882. using the library’s computers and internet. Class time for the following classes is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. \nSeptember 5 and 10 – Basic Computer 1 and 2: This class will cover the types of computers\, differences in hardware and software\, Windows operating system overview\, file management\, considerations for purchasing a computer\, and browser and search engine overviews. \nSeptember 12 – Office 365 Word: This class will discuss the evolution of word processing\, how Microsoft Word has influenced producing documents\, review key Word options\, functions and settings\, explain how to use tables and templates\, review guidelines to create professional documents and provide opportunities to practice using Word. \nSeptember 17 – Office 365 Excel – This class will explain what Microsoft Excel is and how it can be used in many different ways.  It will go over basic functionality such as rows\, columns\, and cells and how to enter and reference data.  Attendees will learn how to write basic excel functions and understand ow how they can be used in everyday applications such as budgeting.  The class will cover the key Excel options and settings and will touch on reporting capabilities using pivot tables and charts (at a high level). \nSeptember 19 -Office 365 PowerPoint – This class will explain how to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create powerful\, interesting presentations.  Attendees will learn how to use text\, images\, video\, photos\, color and designs to customize presentations and make them interesting.  The class members will review guidelines to use in creating business presentations\, how to utilize templates\, and will practice giving presentations based on exercises we complete in class. \nRegistration is required. SUMMARY:Using SkillUp Greater Raritan for Employer Training Needs
DESCRIPTION:Employers are invited to attend a series of webinars to learn how SkillUp Greater Raritan can be utilized to provide free upskilling training to staff. The sessions are conducted at 11 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month – on September 19\, October 17\, November 21\, and December 19\, 2024. During each session\, examples of how local employers are using the platform for training will be shared. In addition\, other business-focused programs offered by the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board (GRWDB) and state partners will be reviewed. \nSkillUp Greater Raritan using Metrix Learning® is a learning management system with more than 7\,000 courses that can be used for internal employee assessment and upskilling. Employers can choose from preset tracks or customize courses based on their department needs. Employers in Hunterdon and Somerset counties are using the platform for: \n\nNew Hires – Onboarding standards\nCareer Ascendancy – Identify skills for promotion\nManagers/Supervisors – Skill development for managers\, new and old\nTechnology Training – Ensure staff are familiar with current best practices.\n\nEmployers can have individuals or cohorts trained. As part of the program\, employers can keep track of employee course progress with reports on accesses\, course completions\, and training hours. \nThis service is free to employers\, covered through grant programs offered by the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board.
